Yesterday was our 29th anniversary and we are now entering our 30th year together! It is hard to believe, because we certainly haven’t changed! It’s surprising how many of our friends have aged, but we haven’t!
We decided to take a road trip and have lunch, rather than go out to dinner. We ended up in Annapolis at a favorite place “Mike’s Bar and Crab House” on the water. Lunch was excellent, of course, but we did
not eat outside! Nor did anyone else! Well, maybe a few seagulls . . . . . . .
After lunch we headed north on a different route, and ended up in North East looking for a library so Linda could find an obituary or two. Since this is an entirely different story, it won’t be included here! But it proved to us how few people actually use a library ~ most of them didn’t even know if they had one, or if they did, where it was!! As we headed to Elkton, we passed some poor soul’s home, partly in the gutter and partly on the bank. (quilts on the bank, floral decor in the gutter, and moving vans from WalMart discarded next to the street)
We finally ended up at the Library in Elkton and from there headed north back into Pennsylvania. It seemed as though the minute we crossed the border into good ole’ PA, the landscape changed! Everything seemed cleaner and neater. Now it may have been our imagination, but. . . . . .Driving through Chester County and into Lancaster County was a pleasure. We were reminded of exactly why we picked up hearth and home and moved across the country. The uniqueness that is Lancaster County can’t be duplicated. We are home.
This is the reason I do life! I’ve spent 29 irreplaceable years with this guy and look forward to many more!
