On June 2nd we saw the sunrise over the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania and saw it set on the opposite coast with family in California . . . . . . .
You can see part of the Susquehanna River on the left hand side and part of York County, Pennsylvania in the foreground in the picture above. The picture below was taken in Redlands, California, after dinner with the Stienstra Clan.
Yup, we traveled to Redlands from Pennsylvania for dinner with family. We had not seen Pete in years and Grace in several years. After dinner at Marie Callander’s, a family favorite place, Bill took us on a tour of the town to see all the changes. . . . . . and there were a lot!! . . . . and then back to their place for more catching up!
The clan gathered around the table and our waiter jumped up into the booth opposite us to take our picture! The waiter also took our entire order with no note pad and delivered the order with no mistakes, exactly as everybody ordered it!! . . . . . and to the correct person! He was an extraordinary server!!!
Pictured, starting in the lower left and going around the table, are: Jim, baby of the family, Linda, writer of the blog and his wife, Grace, widow of Gerald, Bill, husband of Helena and organizer of this event, Helena, only girl in the family and Pete, second youngest sibling.
After dinner we posed for more pictures outside. This particular one is of the three youngest living Stienstra siblings, Pete, Helena and Jim, left to right, with Jim being the baby . . . . . . and my love!
. . . . . and so ended day one ~ The trip coast to coast was worth it, if only to get together with the family, but there is more to come, Paige’s birthday, Hallie’s graduation, trip to Escondido to see Mother and Paul, and then of course, there’s Ellis! The time will be full of memories and family!!
