Jim, being a homebody, could see the end in sight and was anxious for the road to lead home. Thursday was a free day, with Elaine at work and Blaine and Ellis free to do “whatever.”
Since we had driven by the March AFB Museum on numerous occasions and never stopped, we thought it would be a good day to go and take Blaine and Ellis. We headed on out and Ellis was excited to see all the big airplanes, with his favorite being encased in glass! He asked me to “take it!” and when I told him I couldn’t because the top of the case was screwed on, he tried to lift the top himself! Pa and Grandma did buy him a small blue airplane and a postcard with a lot of big planes on it, in the Gift Shop and he seemed pleased with those.
To see the “Blackbird” up close and personal was amazing ~ amazing in the fact that a few short year ago, this was a classified aircraft, and now it’s in a museum! It was home for a rest after lunch at BJ’s ~ Blaine and Pa cooled off with a brew, Grandma had an ice tea and Ellis had his favorite, milk!
It kinda looks like Grandma will owe Blaine and Elaine a childproof computer for Ellis for Christmas. Grandma gave Ellis a computer lesson and he caught on fast! In no time he was remembering where letters were, reciting each one as he typed it and was typing his name and then it happened! He discovered if you held one key down it would repeat that letter . . . . .up to four lines at a time! He thought that was fun!
Since I took a group picture up in Tehachapi, I wanted one in Riverside. This was perfect! Everybody was laughing! I love this picture.
While Blaine went to the Post Office on Friday morning, I took advantage of time with Ellis and had him pose for some pictures. I think they turned out well. He was a good model and cooperated with Grandma!
After a trip to Trader Joe’s for some “California necessities,” fresh, huge, artichokes and avocados, we bid adieu to our family and headed to the Hilton at Ontario Airport where our final night in California would be spent.
Tomorrow we head home!
