. . . and what is the Tomato Barn, you might ask? Ever seen literally thousands of tomatos for sale? all in one place? That’s the Tomato Barn!
Just looks like a regular, unassuming barn, doesn’t it? Typical fruit and veggie barn? Few veggies for sale outside of the barn and when they run out for the day, come back tomorrow type of operation? Think so?
Wrong! There is nothing typical about this place? There are more tomatos than the eye can behold and each one is better than the next! It is worth a 15 minute drive to get their tomatos.
Picture this scene throughout the entire barn! The barn is located in Washington Boro, just west of us and on the Susquehanna River. They are known throughout the area for their delicious tomatos, and “they” are not wrong! Not only did we buy their tomatos, but we also bought their wonderful salsa, nectarines, cantelope and corn. We came home with a carload of fresh produce. The corn was picked in the morning and were big healthy ears!
This is by far the best time of the year for the bounty that the earth in Lancaster County offers! We feel truly blessed to live here. . . . . blessed and a little larger because of it!
