See the tiny little print at the bottom of the sign? California oranges grown in Florida???
As soon as we pointed that out to the produce clerk, the sign was removed and replaced with one that said “California!” This was in a brand new BIG grocery store in Lancaster, PA ~

I think the California orange is the breed. much like a Persian cat that was bred in the US not in Persia.
Many varieties of the navel orange are grown in S. America, Japan, Australia, and California, however, the California Navel is grown in California. The parent navel orange tree is protected by an iron fence at the intersection of Magnolia Ave. and Arlington Ave., in Riverside, California, my hometown.
Hi!, i love your pictures, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
